Urban heritage and sustainable development

“Urban heritage for sustainable development” – the conference organised by ICCROM

Federica Legnani, site manager of the property 'The Porticoes of Bologna', was in Urbino on 14 and 15 October to participate in the "Urban heritage for sustainable development" initiative organised by ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage).

The international association is creating a consortium of site managers who head the management of historic cities/urban areas. The idea is to carry out different activities on some key cities, ranging from the development of a guidance document, to the documentation of good practices and, above all, to mutual support in the common challenges that urban heritage faces. This project has already taken a series of steps, including an introductory online workshop in April of this year. This was followed by another in Bamberg, Germany, in July. Federica Legnani’s participation at the Urbino meeting marked the formalisation of Bologna's entry into this strategic cultural network for the governance of the site.
