The Integrated Territorial and Urban Conservation Course (ITUC) - Managing Urban Heritage for Sustainable Development was held in Urbino from 15 to 26 September, organised by ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property).
It was two intensive weeks for the 16 cultural heritage professionals who met to discuss urban heritage challenges and chart paths towards sustainable development.
Key themes were explored through nine in-depth modules, including: values and attributes, risk assessment and disaster risk management, legal and planning frameworks, climate actions, tourism, socio-economic dynamics and impact assessment.
The programme was enriched by practical visits to the Urbino buffer zone, in collaboration with the local association Clivio Fiorito, the Bruno Cerboni Bajardi Academy and the Guado Lab. These actions offered a direct view of the interaction between material and intangible heritage, community involvement and sustainable development.
On 30 September 2025, the World Heritage Porticoes Office presented a paper entitled Bologna and its Porticoes. Territorial and urban conservation.
