The meeting will be attended by Councillor Anna Lisa Boni and the President of the Francesco Cavazza Institute, Elio De Leo.
The technical and creative process behind the creation of this valuable tool will be outlined. The map was a collaborative effort involving the Municipality of Bologna, with technical-scientific support from Fabio Fornasari, Artistic Director of the Tolomeo Museum.
The map is not merely an object, but a key orientation and inclusion tool. Its implementation was made possible by funding from the OPEN project, itself financed by the Ministry of Tourism.
Although the presentation will take place in the Tolomeo Museum, the map will have its home in the heart of the city, installed under the Voltone del Podestà as soon as restoration work on the building is complete.
The tactile map has been designed to help people find out more about the porticoes. This tool will enable residents and tourists – especially people with visual impairments – to read the urban fabric with their hands. They will be able to identify the exact location of the 38 plaques installed in the city to celebrate and identify the portico sections in our UNESCO property. In this way, the experience of Bologna's heritage becomes a shared tactile story, making the beauty of our architecture truly available and accessible to everyone.
